ESSENTIAL MENTAL HEALTH Together we can make a difference
Mental Health First Aid & Awareness Training & Consultancy
Together we really can make a difference
Never before has the importance of mental health and well-being been more at the forefront, particularly with increasing numbers of people working remotely from home. Even with these staff, employers still have a legal responsibility to ensure their physical and mental health, safety and well-being. Its also vital to remember that Mental Disorder is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010 disability framework and co-workers are increasingly likely to need, or know a colleague who needs, support or guidance.
In February 2024, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) updated the requirements of it’s Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 to now include Mental Health in an employer’s legal duty of care towards its employees which means this should now be taken into consideration when conducting Risk Assessments and writing Health & Wellbeing policies.
This significant change reflects the importance of integrating Mental Health & Wellbeing along with longer established physical health & safety and the aligning of wellbeing policies and procedures within the workplace.
Employers are increasingly concerned about absenteeism, presenteeism and productivity loss due to mental ill health and understand that a healthy workplace is a happy and productive workplace. We know that stressful working environments and a whole host of additional external factors can impact a person's resilience and well-being, but few managers or businesses feel truly equipped to balance these pressures and effectively support the mental health needs of their staff.
Here at Essential Mental Health, we are making it our mission to raise awareness of common mental health issues, personal well-being, reducing commonly associated stigmas, support a mentally healthier workplace and most of all, training people to be able to recognise the signs of mental ill health and provide the relevant support when people need it most.
** PLEASE NOTE ALL OF OUR COURSES CAN BE DELIVERED VIA LIVE ON-LINE SESSIONS **
